Singapore on a Long Weekend: A 4-Day Itinerary from Ahmedabad

How to fly out Thursday night, hit Gardens by the Bay, Sentosa and hawker classics, and be back at your desk Tuesday.
Singapore is built for the long-weekend traveler — compact, English-speaking, safe, and just a 5.5-hour direct flight from Ahmedabad via Mumbai. You can leave Thursday night, land Friday morning, and still be at your desk Tuesday having seen the city properly.
This is the itinerary we send to clients who ask for 'the classic first Singapore trip'. It assumes two travelers, mid-range hotel budget, and a preference for food and views over shopping.
Flights: the timing that makes this work
The whole itinerary hinges on Singapore Airlines SQ423 (or Scoot TR599) departing Mumbai around 11:30 pm Thursday, landing Changi 7:00 am Friday. Fly Ahmedabad → Mumbai on the 7:45 pm IndiGo. On the way back: SQ422 departs Changi 11:55 pm Monday, lands Mumbai 3:00 am Tuesday, then a 6 am connection to Ahmedabad. You're at your desk by 10.

Day 1 — Friday: Marina Bay
Land at Changi Terminal 1 by 7 am. Grab a taxi (SGD 25) or the MRT (SGD 2.40) to a Bugis or Clarke Quay hotel — YOTEL Orchard Road and Hotel G are the two we recommend most often. Drop bags, freshen up.
Breakfast: kaya toast, soft eggs, and kopi at any Ya Kun Kaya Toast. Walk Marina Bay in the mid-morning cool. Lunch at Lau Pa Sat hawker centre — chicken rice at Tian Tian, satay in the evening from stall 7 or 8.
Afternoon: Gardens by the Bay Flower Dome and Cloud Forest (SGD 32 combo ticket, book online). ArtScience Museum if it's raining. End the day at the Spectra light show on the Marina Bay boardwalk at 8 pm, then rooftop drinks at LeVeL33 or Smoke & Mirrors.
Day 2 — Saturday: Sentosa
Cable car from Mount Faber to Sentosa (SGD 35 round trip) is a better experience than the monorail — the view down the harbour is worth it. Universal Studios opens 10 am; buy Express Passes if you're going in summer, otherwise the wait times are manageable.
Lunch inside Universal, then S.E.A. Aquarium in the afternoon (skip if you've done Dubai's). Sunset at Tanjong Beach Club — book a lounger, order a Beach Club Punch, watch the container ships.
Dinner back on the mainland at Newton Food Centre: chili crab at Alliance Seafood (stall 27), sambal stingray, carrot cake, and sugar-cane juice. This is the meal your friends will still ask you about.
Day 3 — Sunday: Culture and food streets
Chinatown breakfast at Tong Ah Eating House — kaya toast done differently, and the best half-boiled eggs in town. Buddha Tooth Relic Temple opens 7 am. Walk Pagoda Street and Smith Street.
Little India lunch at Komala Vilas — yes, pure vegetarian South Indian in Singapore is excellent and about a third of the price of the tourist restaurants. Try the paper masala dosa and filter coffee.
Arab Street in the afternoon for perfumes and textiles, coffee at Kampong Glam. Rooftop drinks at CÉ LA VI on top of Marina Bay Sands (SGD 30 cover, redeemable against drinks) for the postcard shot.

Day 4 — Monday: Slow morning, then home
Botanic Gardens walk (free, opens 5 am) — the Orchid Garden section is worth the SGD 15 ticket. Brunch at Tiong Bahru Bakery — the kouign-amann is the reason people write about this place.
Last-minute shopping at Orchard Road or Ion. Head to Changi by 8 pm — allow time to actually explore the airport. Jewel Changi's Rain Vortex is a Terminal 1 attraction; the butterfly garden is Terminal 3.
Board SQ422 at 11:55 pm. You'll sleep through most of the flight and be home in Ahmedabad by lunchtime Tuesday.
